Parks Maintenance Schedule

Parks Maintenance Overview 

Council’s Parks Maintenance section carries out maintenance works on all parks in the Cessnock Local Government Area. The aim is to maintain each park in the nominated zone, generally spending a week in each zone every four weeks.

Activities may include mowing, spraying, trimming, edging, field marking, installation of goal posts, fence repairs, vandalism repairs and litter removal.

These activities are programmed from customer requests and Council Coordinator inspections prior to moving into the area for necessary works.

Council’s Recreation Tractors operate as follows:

• Weekly for the summer season on all Council cricket ovals and athletic fields (playing surfaces only).
• Fortnightly for the autumn and spring seasons on all Council playing fields.
• Winter schedule is as required from Council Officer inspections and as part of the Parks Maintenance Schedule.
• During the above months, all other sporting fields are maintained as part of the Parks Maintenance Schedule.

**Priorities can change due to staffing levels and climatic conditions

Parks are maintained on a bi-weekly, weekly, monthly, quarterly or high maintenance basis. Please contact Council's Open Space Operations Coordinator on 4993 4100 for further information.

**The program is based on a peak growing season during summer months and may vary during dry periods or over winter.**
