Road Works Program

Capital Works and Improvement Projects include expenditure on the acquisition and construction of new infrastructure assets and the augmentation or improvement of existing infrastructure assets.

Infrastructure assets are all the assets that comprise of public facilities which Council requires to provide essential services. They include roadworks, drainage, parking areas, parks, buildings and works installations. Council proposes to undertake the following programs over the 2011/2012 financial year:

Paynes Crossing Road, Wollombi - Realignment

Council will shortly commence road reconstruction works on Paynes Crossing Road, Wollombi.  Works will involve realignment of the existing roadway to suit the recently constructed bridge.  The approximate length of the works is 320m. During construction there may be some short but unavoidable delays.  Work will be undertaken until 23 December 2011 and resume on 16 January 2012.

Price and Sale Streets, Greta

Council will shortly commence road works on Price and Sale Streets, Greta. The proposed works are approximately 100m from the existing dead end of Sale Street to Price Street.

The proposed works will generally involve:

  • Drainage works in Price Street and Sale Street near Wyndham Street.
  • New road pavement work linking Sale Street and Price Street.
  • Embankment stabilization and scour protection to existing water way.

Council advises local residents and road users that there will unavoidable delays at various times during the construction.

Quarrybylong Street Bridge

The Quarrybylong Street Bridge Cessnock will be closed from 1/2/2012 for two weeks for maintenance
