ACCESS & INCLUSION Cessnock City Council is committed to improving inclusion and accessibility for its infrastructure, communications, business systems and services. Our Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-2021 provides an opportunity to formally identify issues facing both people with disability and their carers on a local level. This framework developed with the support of the community will better inform Council on how to create a more inclusive community for both residents and visitors alike. We will continue to build on and improve accessibility for people of all abilities. To access our local mobility maps visit community/sport/disability. STRIKE A BALANCE The Cessnock LGA offers a relaxed, rural lifestyle, but there are also plenty of business opportunities, along with things to keep you and your family entertained during your downtime! SCHOOLS Offering plenty of parks, playgrounds, a variety of sporting facilities, great libraries and entertainment options, the Cessnock LGA is the perfect place to bring up a family. Picking the right school for your child is important for every family and with 28 schools in our LGA you’re sure to find the right fit. For more information on what schools are available, check out the community directory in the back of this guide. We understand pets are part of the family and bring so much happiness, but they can also take a lot of responsibility. It’s important to make sure you take your pet to the vet regularly and ensure they’re registered and microchipped so they can be easily returned if they decide to take an unplanned adventure in their new home. We are also a very dog-friendly region, offering a number of leash-free parks to take your furry friends. For more information on these parks and everything you need to know about owning a pet, visit community/animals. PETS AND ANIMALS L I F E S T Y L E 12 NEW RESIDENTS GUIDE
