Understanding the public exhibition of the Draft Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2009, Draft City Wide Settlement Strategy (2009) and Draft Development Control Plan (DCP) 2009
The draft LEP 2009 and draft DCP 2009 public exhibition includes an extensive range of information and documents. A full local government wide LEP and/or DCP, such as this, is only prepared by Council approximately every 10 years or so.
These plans are also being prepared in the context new State Government Regional Strategies and significant and ongoing legislative changes by the State Government.
The draft LEP 2009 includes a number of site specific rezoning proposals, which were already being considered by Council and were sufficiently advanced to support their inclusion in the draft LEP. Information on these rezoning proposals and their associated Local Environmental Studies and support information is included with the full exhibition material.
In addition to the actual Cessnock draft Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2009 and associated mapping, there is a range of statutory information to be exhibited with the draft LEP 2009 under the requirements of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979 (EP&A Act).
In order to assist with understanding the complex and extensive range of information being exhibited, Council has prepared a range of ‘fact sheets’. The fact sheets provide summary explanations of key aspects of the exhibition material and can be accessed through the links following.
The fact sheets do not form part of the formal exhibition material and should not be used as the basis for making a submission to Council on the draft LEP 2009, draft CWSS (2009) or the draft DCP (2009).
Council staff will be available during 9am - 12pm by appointment, to discuss the exhibition material and answer your questions.
