Council provides public health related services and functions to protect the safety and welfare of the community. Monitoring and inspection programs are implemented to help prevent the spread of diseases such as legionella, food poisoning and hepatitis.
Council’s Environmental Health Officers undertake approximately 630 programmed inspections each year of businesses such as hairdressing salons, retail food outlets, and tattoo parlours. These inspections allow for the regulation of business and also provide advice, educational material and up to date information on best practise techniques to prevent the spread of diseases.
