Tradie Talk at Cessnock Library

You've got a new roof but it starts to leak in a storm, the mechanics swear they've fixed your car but it still won't go, your new backyard fence falls over in the first wind…

We have all heard the horror stories of what happens when work done by shonky tradespeople goes wrong.

Thousands of complaints roll into the NSW Department of Fair Trading every year about renovation disasters and repair work. Head to Cessnock Library for a free NSW Fair Trading seminar on “Hiring a Tradie – Everything You Need to Know.

This seminar will cover selecting a tradesperson, getting quotes, licenses required and essential questions to ask your tradie.

Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters said even the most avid DIY-er find themselves in need of a tradie from time to time.

“This seminar will give people the knowledge and tools to help ensure they have a positive tradie experience, but will also cover off on consumer law protections and dispute resolution.”

The seminar will also give participants a heads up on dealing with travelling con men who pressure residents to have work done on their house for cash up front, yet often leave the job unfinished or poorly done.
