The Elf Evolution

Cessnock City Council is helping you transform into an elf ahead of the 2016 Christmas Elf Challenge by holding a free Elf Workshop on Thursday 1 December at 4pm.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said the workshop will be held on the eve of the elf invasion, where it is hoped thousands of elves will descend on Cessnock Sportsground.

“Please book ahead to take part in the workshop and bring along a red or green t-shirt to decorate, a little creativity, festive cheer and your inner elf.”

“Last year there was a fantastic turn out of elves at the Carols in the Park event but not quite enough to secure the world record.”

“This year Project Cessnock are determined to help secure the title for Cessnock so if you ever fancied a spot in the record books don’t forget your elf attire”, Cr Pynsent said.

Carols in the Park and the Guinness Book of Records attempt will both take place on Friday 2 December.

The Carols in the Park festivities include:

  • A chance to do some Christmas shopping at the Funky Junk Flea Markets from 4.30pm.
  • Joining other elves taking part in the world record congregate from 6.15pm.
  • Singing along with Christmas Carols beginning at 6.30pm.
  • A special visit from Santa during the evening.
  • Watching fireworks light up the night sky at 8.30pm.
