Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said he is pleased street scape improvements are nearing completion on Station Street, Weston.

“The project is not just about beautification of one of our most historic townships but also improves pedestrian amenity.”

“It is important we ensure footpaths in the community are adequate for all residents, particularly those that give access to our local businesses.””

“Station Street is now safer for not only pedestrians but motorists with the upgrades to parking”.

“It was a privilege to be able to stand beside Cr Sander, former Cr Catherine Parsons and Pat Maybury, wife of the late Cr Jeff Maybury who have all been instrumental to the completion of this project”, Cr Pynsent said.

The work undertaken has included upgrades to the drainage, car parking and footpath. It also highlights the original stone flagging under the awnings of the Station Street local businesses.

Cessnock City Council appreciates the cooperation and understanding of all small business owners in the area as the work took place on their doorsteps.
