Cessnock City Council is gearing up for Spring Awakening this Friday night, celebrating the start of spring.

Cessnock City Council’s General Manager, Stephen Glen said it is going to be a fantastic evening and a breathtaking sight.

“There has been a lot of excitement in the lead up to this event as people busily prepare their lanterns.”

“The involvement from the community has been overwhelming with locals attending workshops, local artists creating masterpieces and students across the local government area making hundreds of lanterns.”

“It will be mesmerising as the parade makes its way from the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre down Vincent Street led by the Cessnock Pipe and Drum band”, Mr Glen said.

It all finishes up at TAFE parklands where there will be live music, warm fires, lasers, hot chocolate, roving performers, face painting, the Spring Poem Competition and the Earthen Rhythms’ drum explosion workshop.

Remember to use the #SpringAwakening when posting to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. The best snapper has the chance to score a family pass to The Listies 6D or tickets to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow next year at CPAC.

The parade kicks off at 5:30pm sharp.
