Time to make a splash as the pool season starts!
The warmer weather is well and truly here, and residents will now be able to enjoy it with the 2017-18 pool season starting this Saturday 30 September.
Cessnock Pool will be open to residents just in time for the long weekend however the opening of the Branxton Pool will be slightly delayed.
Cessnock City Council are in clean-up mode following urgent repairs after a leak was located underneath the plant room last week.
Council moved quickly to replace the damaged pipe but as a result had to remove a large amount of concrete and cast iron pipework manually.
It was hoped with repairs occurring over the weekend the pool would be ready to open for Saturday 30 September however the decision has been made to delay the opening by two days.
Council’s Acting Open Space and Community Facilities Manager, Nicole Benson said we are holding off opening the facility to ensure the water quality meets the NSW Health Regulations.
“Construction works were finalised yesterday, and staff are now cleaning and sanitising the main pool to ensure the water quality is up to standard.”
“We look forward to opening the pool to the public on Monday 2 October and apologise for any inconvenience caused by the delay.”
“The good news is season pass holders will still be able to start their swim season this Saturday as they can head to Cessnock pool.”
“We are also happy to confirm, the new heat pumps have been switched on at Branxton pool and pool users will experience a comfortable temperature from their first dip in the pool this season.”
