Cessnock City Mayor Councillor Bob Pynsent has visited six schools this past month commending winners of the 2015 Mayoral Photography Competition.

Out of the 120 photographs received nine winning images were selected and prize money was awarded across three categories.

St Philip’s Christian College students Brandon Desborough, Paige Searle, Kira McDonald and Summer Preece took out first, second and third place across all three categories with their ‘change’ inspired photographs.

The students presented the sum of eight hundred dollars to their principal at their end of year assembly.

“It is important that young people have an opportunity to stand up in front of their teachers and peers to be recognised for their outstanding efforts,” Cr Bob Pynsent said.

“This competition gives students a chance to think creatively and demonstrate the theme in their works.

This year’s winners have really demonstrated how much creativity is in our schools.”

Prize money for the 2015 Mayoral Photography Competition was kindly donated by Hope Estate.
