The community of Mulbring will be able to send their post without heading out of town after Cessnock City Council worked with Australia Post to get a post box installed.

Councillor Allan Stapleford moved a notice of motion in May concerning the establishment of a post office box in Mulbring following the closure of the Mulbring General Store and Post Office Shop last year.

Council agreed something needed to be done and sparked a conversation with Australia Post, who were more than happy to assist.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent welcomed the move by Australia Post to support the community.

“Australia Post responded and acted quickly to return the postal service to the community of Mulbring. The post box in Mulbring is now installed and ready for use.”   Councillor Allan Stapleford said a resident raised the issue with him and he is pleased a solution has been reached.

“The Mulbring community is a very deserving community. It’s small but thriving with about 24 local businesses. The closure of the store and it services placed a major burden on businesses and their ability to access postal services. A big thanks to Australia Post for hearing us out and taking action. It’s the little things that make a difference to people’s lives,” Cr Stapleford.
