Over $2.2 million announced for Hunter Valley Wine Country Tourist Signage
The NSW Government has announced a $2.2 million grant for Cessnock City Council to continue rolling out the Hunter Valley Wine Country Tourist Signage project.
The funding under the NSW Government’s Regional Growth Environment and Tourism Fund was announced today by Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, the Central Coast and the Hunter, the Hon. Mr Scot MacDonald MLC.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said it’s a fantastic opportunity to build on the work Council has already carried out.
“Last year Council installed a number of information bays, city gateway signs, and wayfinding directional signage as part of a $2.5 million project that was funded through a dollar for dollar Federal Government Building Better Regions Fund grant.”
“Tourists travelling our region and enjoying the services our tourism operators offer will have a better experience. The signs not only look great but feature extremely valuable information about local experiences. This grant enables Council to roll out more signage that will help those visiting our wonderful local government area.”
During 2018 you may have spotted Council working throughout Hunter Valley Wine Country erecting a total of twenty precinct signs. The signs showcase the six unique precincts that make our region such an attractive tourist destination. The precinct signage designs were selected after extensive community consultation and particularly chambers of commerce who played a key role in providing input. Council congratulated all those involved in assisting Council in undertaking this project.
Keep an eye out for signage that identifies Around Hermitage, Central Pokolbin, Parish of Pokolbin, Lovedale, Mount View and the Wollombi Valley.
Each sign sports a different logo, colour and pictograms that gives an overview of the individual precinct. To stay up to date with this project and current works being carried out visit www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/community/roads/projects.
