Move over St Valentine because 14 February is also Library Lovers’ Day and it is a chance to celebrate your library.

Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries will be hosting a morning tea from 10am and Cessnock Library will also be hosting the award winning crime fiction author Andrew Patterson at 11.30am.

Library Lovers’ Day is part of a nationwide initiative coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association, which aims to raise the profile of library services and is a chance for everyone to reconnect with their local library.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said our local libraries have long been a wonderful resource for everyone in the community and serve many purposes – acting as a meeting place to make friends, somewhere to study and gain knowledge, and a treasure trove of ideas, entertainment and leisure.

“Our librarians do a fantastic job of serving the community’s needs, and Library Lovers’ Day is a good way to celebrate them”.

“It is also a great day for our librarians to connect with residents to let them know how we can help them,” Cr Pynsent said.

Save the date, 14 February, and come and celebrate the library love with us at both the Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Library.
