Cessnock City Council is offering another two free mattress drop-off services in August and October making it easier for residents to dispose of old mattresses and ensembles.

Cessnock City Council General Manager, Stephen Glen said the drop-off days were back by popular demand.

“We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of people using the drop of service and are pleased to be offering it again in two locations”.

“Many don’t realise that the majority of mattresses and ensembles contain valuable materials like steel, timber and foam which can be re-used or recycled”, Mr Glen said.

The drop-off days will be held on:

  • Saturday 27 August 2016 at the Business Enterprise Centre Car Park, Corner Merthyr & Barton St, Kurri Kurri (Entry via Barton Street).
  • Saturday 22 October 2016 at Hunter TAFE Cessnock Campus Car Park, Darwin St Cessnock.

The service is available to Cessnock City Council residents only and proof of address is required.

Up to five mattresses or bases will be accepted per household between 8am and 12 noon.

Mattress drop-offs must be made using a vehicle as there will be no pedestrian access.

If you are unable to attend the drop-off days mattresses can be taken to the Cessnock Waste and Reuse Centre for disposal for a fee of $27.
