Local parents are invited to attend a free eSmart workshop from 5.30-6.30pm on Wednesday 30 May at Cessnock Library which will provide an insight into the online worlds of young people.

The workshop will be hosted by Brad Langoulant from the Alannah & Madeline Foundation and will cover the latest trends, risks and research, with a strong focus on social media.

Parents will go home feeling much more confident about the topic as they will develop an understanding of the appeal of social media and how to support their kids to stay safe.

Local parents will also be encouraged to emphasise the importance of open communication and know when and how to report inappropriate content or cyber bullying.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said kids are learning to navigate the online world at a much younger age, so it is important parents know the risks and how to manage them.

“This workshop is a fantastic opportunity for local parents to get tips from the experts about cyber safety and bullying and I strongly encourage those who’d like to find out more to come along.”

Places are limited, so don’t miss out! Book your spot today by calling the team at Cessnock Library on 4993 4399.
