Economic Development excellence in Cessnock recognised
Cessnock City Council’s Economic Development team
have been recognised at a state level attracting two nominations for the 2018
NSW Local Government Excellence Awards.
The Economic Development team have been shortlisted as a finalist for two outstanding Cessnock City projects. The Cessnock City Youth First Employment Toolkit has been shortlisted in the category of Special Projects and the team’s unique business platform Advance Cessnock City has been recognised in the category of Service Delivery Initiative.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent congratulated the team on their hard work and for their dedication to excellence.
“It’s no surprise the team is a finalist in two categories as they continue to think innovatively and have achieved a great deal through both of these projects. The Youth Employment Project not only supported local young people to become job ready, but the Toolkit developed has now been distributed to every Council across Australia to help unemployed youths nationally, with widespread acclaim.”
The Advance Cessnock City Platform has also been a huge achievement of the Economic Development team. An online platform that is a one stop shop for local business and prospective businesses. It provides helpful information about Cessnock’s economic profile, local business events, free business profiles, other Council support for business and a popular e-News Monitor.
Cessnock City Council’s Economic Development Manager, Jane Holdsworth said she’s happy the projects have been so successful.
“It’s great these valuable initiatives have been recognised and I look forward to seeing what other wonderful projects have been nominated. Like every success however, you need a team willing to go the extra mile, with enthusiasm and commitment. These accomplishments are due to how we work innovatively together and look at ways to support our business community and grow our economy.“
The recipients of the awards will be announced at a dinner to be held on Thursday 7 June 2018.
