Convent Hill, Bridges Hill Park and East End Oval Masterplan on exhibition

Cessnock City Council has placed the Convent Hill, Bridges Hill Park and East End Oval Masterplan on exhibition until 25 March 2016 and is seeking public comment.

Cessnock City Council has placed the Convent Hill, Bridges Hill Park and East End Oval Masterplan on exhibition until 25 March 2016 and is seeking public comment.

Council’s last bi-annual playground audit revealed Bridges Hill Park playground was approaching its end of life, with the playground deemed inadequate for a regional park.

In considering a suitable replacement, Council’s Strategic Recreation and Community Facilities Planner Paul Burton said the team saw an opportunity to develop a Masterplan for all three sites.

“Bridges Hill Park, Convent Hill and East End Oval are all located immediately north of the Cessnock CBD and presented an excellent opportunity to create an integrated recreation precinct to service both locals and visitors,” Mr Burton said.

“The draft Masterplan aims to identify and address opportunities and constraints that will ensure future investment in the sites generate maximum benefit for the community. It will also assist Council in attracting funding from external sources.”

A regional themed playground and improved access will be first off the rank thanks to funding received through the National Stronger Regions Fund.
