Carols in the Park 2018
Can you hear those sleigh bells jingling? Cessnock City Council’s CAROLS IN THE PARK 2018 is set to go off with a big bang on Friday 7 December 2018 at Cessnock Sportsground from 5:30pm.
Country music star and local resident Tara Naysmith returns to the Carols stage in 2018 as MC. Santa’s Little Helpers, a 14 piece big band comprised of talented musicians from across the Hunter, are expected to put on a wonderful performance under the guidance of Musical Director Greg Patterson. Greg is well known for his outstanding contribution to big stage musicals and his wonderful work as an arranger.
Of course, the night would not be complete without a visit from the man himself. Santa will rest his reindeers in the nearby vineyards and enter in style in a helicopter generously provided by Slattery’s Helicopter. This annual event continues to go from strength to strength and has become the heart of the Cessnock local government area’s Christmas celebrations, with an array of entertainment for the whole family.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said it’s wonderful to celebrate this time of year as a community.
“This event is for everyone in the community to enjoy and is an absolute favourite of mine. The programming is brilliant and a visit from Santa is always such a fun time. It’s great to see so many people together, smiling and enjoying quality time at this very busy time of year.”
For those last minute Christmas gifts, this year’s event will also include market stalls coordinated by Market2Markets from 5.30pm, showcasing some of the region’s finest handmade items. There’ll also be gourmet food stalls and refreshments available for sale. The night will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display that is sure to delight and amaze. Gates open at 5:30pm with the Carols performances from 6:45pm. Pack a picnic rug and head down to Cessnock Sports Ground and join us in making this a truly wonderful community event.
The event is proudly sponsored by Newcastle Permanent Building Society (our major sponsor), Cessnock City Council, Rover Motors and Slatterys Helicopters. For more information visit www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au
