Calling for Nominations for 2016 Hall of Fame
City Council is inviting the community to put forward nominations for the 2016
Cessnock City Hall of Fame by the end of October.
Cessnock City Council Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Hall of Fame and it is a privilege to be seeking nominations for our next inductees.
“Over the past decade the Hall of Fame has recognised outstanding individuals and families in six categories of achievement”.
“Notable people from the Arts, Business, Public Service, Science, Sport and Meritorious Families are all worthy of consideration”, Cr Pynsent said.
To be eligible for induction into Hall of Fame, the nominated individual or family must have:
- been born in the Cessnock local government area (LGA); and/or
- spent a substantial period of their childhood/adolescence in the LGA; and/or
- been a resident in the LGA for a substantial period of time during their period of high achievement.
inductees include Stuart Pike who represented Australia in swimming at the
Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games; Kenneth Neate who was a renowned Australian operatic
and concert tenor, opera producer and singing teacher; and the Tulloch Family,
winemakers over several generations since the 1890s.
Detailed guidelines including examples of achievements needed to ensure your nominee is eligible for induction are available on our website or you can pick up a hard copy at our Administration Centre (62-78 Vincent Street Cessnock) or Cessnock and Kurri Kurri libraries.
Completed nomination forms must be received by Council no later than 5pm Monday 31 October 2016.
