The replacement of Frame Drive Bridge Abermain has moved into the next phase as Cessnock City Council recently accepted a tender from Waeger Constructions.

Relocation of public utilities is expected to start in August with work on replacing the single lane bridge with a concrete two lane bridge to follow soon after. The new bridge will be low maintenance and have a long life span.

Cessnock City Mayor Councillor Bob Pynsent said he is relieved work will commence shortly.

“This has been a trying time for the community who have had to be patient as Council worked hard to secure a long term, safe and suitable solution”, Cr Pynsent said.

“I very much look forward to the day we open the new bridge which will have an open load limit, two way travel and pedestrian walkways on both sides.”

Road works will also be undertaken on Frame Drive following the installation of the new bridge.
