Over the hotter months Cessnock City Council is excited to offer residents free entry on a Sunday to Cessnock Pool, Branxton Pool and now Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre.

The promotion kicks off from the first Sunday in the Christmas school holidays and will run until the last Sunday in February. Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said he looks forward to seeing many local families making the most of this trial period and enjoying quality time at the pools this summer.

“From 10am until close, everyone in our community will be able to access our wonderful pools free of charge and enjoy some relief from what we expect to be a very hot summer season.”

“The pools are a place for residents to not only spend time together, but have fun, enjoy the outdoors and most importantly be active.”

At the most recent Council meeting a decision was made by Council to foot the bill to also include the Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre, which is operated by Belgravia Leisure in the trial. This ensures all families, no matter where they live have equal opportunity to enjoy the pools this summer.

Family friendly activities are planned throughout the trial, including jumping castles and the inflatable fun park, fees and charges will apply for these extra activities.

There is more good news for our pool users, in extreme heat the outdoor pools may be open for longer hours, to give residents more opportunity to get some reprieve from the hot conditions. On the occasions where Council officers determine extended hours are warranted the community will be made aware via social media and other appropriate channels.
