Small businesses celebrated in Cessnock!
Cessnock City Council’s Economic Development team was pleased with the success of their recent Advance Cessnock City Let’s Talk Business seminar.
Held on 24 October as part of NSW Small Business Month, the business event featured small business expert Mark Carter and a panel of seven local business high achievers.
The event attracted over 75 business attendees, who took advantage of the free learning and networking opportunity.
Small Business Month is a series of events held in October across metropolitan and regional NSW. It is sponsored by the NSW Department of Industry and is designed to provide local councils with funding to devise local events tailored for small businesses in their area.
The emphasis is on events with practical information and ideas and also to foster networking opportunities for small business people.
“We have a thriving small business network in Cessnock City and our Economic Development team works hard to attract these opportunities to ensure our businesses are well supported,” said Cessnock City Mayor Councillor Bob Pynsent.
During the two hour seminar, Mark Carter outlined practical strategies that could be immediately incorporated into small businesses to expand productivity and sales efficiency.
The panel of small business leaders were invited to share insights into how their individual business developed. They were asked about their successes and temporary setbacks and how they overcame them.
Acting Economic Development Manager, Rhiannon Stevens said it was very generous and brave of our small business leaders to share their stories.
“Hearing the individual accounts from a diverse panel was a great learning experience and really highlighted small business excellence in Cessnock City.”
“We will continue to provide up to date resources and relevant opportunities for the business community through the Advance Cessnock City suite. Keep an eye on your emails for future events,” added Rhiannon.
