Show your library some love

Move over St Valentine, because 14 February is also Library Lovers’ Day and Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries will be hosting events to celebrate this loved-up occasion.
Library Lovers’ Day is part of a nationwide initiative coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association who provide a chance for everyone to reconnect with their library.
The theme of Library Lovers’ Day this year is “Love Letters to Libraries” which explores the love that we all hold for libraries and how they help to shape our identity.
Local library lovers are invited to attend a special morning tea at Cessnock or Kurri Kurri Library from 10.30am on Wednesday 14 February 2018.
Cessnock Library will also play host to the very talented Michael Griggs from the Cessnock Senior Citizens Association who will wow the audience with a keyboard recital featuring well-known romantic songs.
Cessnock City Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters is encouraging the community to come along and enjoy these events.
“The local library has long been a wonderful resource for everyone in the community, serving many purposes including acting as a meeting place to make friends, somewhere to study and gain knowledge and is a treasure trove of ideas, entertainment and leisure.”
“Libraries hold a special place in the heart of our community and our librarians do a fantastic job of serving the community’s needs. Library Lovers’ Day is a great way to celebrate this and there will also be an opportunity to leave a note that describes what you love about your library.”
