School holidays are just around the corner and Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries have an action-packed program of events lined up to keep local kids entertained.

Kicking off on Monday 9 July and running through to Friday 20 July, there is something for everyone to get involved in!

Learn to juggle and perform magic tricks at JD Howlett’s wonderful workshop for young witches and wizards, or create a cartoon with Matt Lin, Sydney author and artist. Kids can also learn to knit a scarf or weave a basket the traditional Aboriginal way.

For the tinkerers and builders, there’s the Cardboard Automata Makerspace workshop or the annual Lego competition is a chance to put your creative building skills to the test! And last but not least, use your creative puzzle-solving skills to escape from the Divination Classroom, that’s right kids, the Hogwarts Escape Room is back!

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent is encouraging local parents, carers and children to get involved in activities in our libraries this school holidays.

“Our libraries are a fantastic place for children to learn a new skill, have fun and make new friends and there’s also plenty on offer for local parents too.”

Pick up a program at Cessnock or Kurri Kurri Libraries or download it online at libraries.cessnock.nsw.gov.au.
