Councillor Allan Stapleford elected Deputy Mayor

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent congratulated Councillor Allan Stapleford on being elected as Deputy Mayor for the next year.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent congratulated Councillor Allan Stapleford on being elected as Deputy Mayor for the next year.

The election of Deputy Mayor occurred at the first general Council meeting on Wednesday 5 October for the term of office from October 2016 to the September 2017.

Councillor Stapleford was elected by Councillors over fellow nominee Councillor Ian Olsen.

Cr Pynsent said he looks forward to working with Cr Stapleford for the next year.

“This marks Cr Stapleford’s third term at Deputy Mayor, he has done a fantastic job during his previous terms and I know he will continue to do an outstanding job representing our community”

Councillor Stapleford said it is a privilege to represent the community

“It is a real honour to be elected to represent the people of Cessnock and an experience I have thoroughly enjoyed and look forward to continuing,” Cr Stapleford said.

Cr Stapleford has lived in the Cessnock local government area for 64 years. He was born at Millfield and lived there as a youngster before moving into Cessnock with his family. He returned to Millfield 16 years ago.

The Ward A representative spent many years working in the coal mining industry. He joined Council with the aim of giving something back to the community that has been so good to him and his family. The father-of-two enjoys beef and poultry farming on his small property.
