Council extends waiving of fees for storm affected residents

Cessnock City Council will extend the waiving of fees at the Cessnock Waste Management Centre (CWMC) for the disposal of garden organics storm debris by residents who were most severely impacted by the weather event that hit the Cessnock Local Government Area last week.

Community members living in Kurri Kurri, Abermain, Weston, Loxford, Pelaw Main, Stanford Merthyr and now also Buchanan have more time to clean up and visit the CWMC.

Council announced the fees for eligible residents will be waived up until Monday 20 November, 2017 to dispose of green organics storm debris.

Remember for the fee to be waived you must show proof of address to Council staff and it is only applicable to green waste storm debris material self -hauled by the resident.

For those residents in our community who are having difficulties managing following the storm, you can seek additional assistance through the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) or Samaritans.
