More than 3,000 people gathered at Cessnock Sportsground on Friday evening to sing in the festive season at the annual Carols in the Park event.

Cessnock City Council has been hosting this event for more than a decade and it continues to get bigger and better each and every year.

This year saw Christmas markets, food stalls, fantastic live entertainment, a visit from Santa who arrived in a helicopter and it was all topped off with a fantastic fireworks display!

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said it was wonderful to see so many people in our community enjoying the event.

“This is one of my favourite annual events and this year was up there with the best Carols in the Park we’ve had.”

"Everything was simply outstanding – we had great weather, Tara Naysmith did a fantastic job as MC, the performers and band were top-notch and the fireworks display was unreal.”

“I would like to thank everyone who was involved in making this event such a success including the team at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre and other Council staff, the wonderful volunteers and our event sponsors,” added Cr Pynsent.

Carols in the Park is proudly sponsored by Newcastle Permanent Building Society, Rover Motors and Cessnock City Council.
