Author talk by Dr Albrecht - Earth Emotions
Join us for an author talk by Dr Glenn Albrecht on Thursday 3 October at the Cessnock Library from 5pm to 6:30pm as he discusses his book 'Earth Emotions.’
Dr Albrecht examines our positive and negative earth emotions. He introduces us to the many new words needed to describe the full range of our emotional responses to the emergent state of the world. He suggests that we need this creation of a hopeful vocabulary of positive emotions so that we can extract ourselves out of environmental desolation and reignite our millennia-old biophilia or love of life for our home planet.
Dr Albrecht believes humans are entering a new geological age: the Symbiocene. Dr Albrecht sees reason for optimism with Generation Symbiocene (Gen S); the current and coming generations. The battle between the forces of destruction and the forces of creation will be won by Gen S. 'Earth Emotions' presents an ethical and emotional odyssey for that victory.
Council’s Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters invited to join Dr Albrecht as he discusses his book.
“The talk by Dr Albrecht will be interesting as he explores the way in which we view our environment impacts on our wellbeing.”
Dr Albrecht was Professor of Sustainability at Murdoch University in WA. He retired in 2014. He is an honorary fellow in the School Of Geosciences, Sydney University. In 2008, Albrecht finished as the Associate Professor in Environmental Studies in University of Newcastle.
