Acknowledgement

Cessnock City Council meetings, and other significant events in our local government area, include the below wording to acknowledge our traditional land owners:

"Council acknowledges the Wonnarua people as the traditional custodians of this land we are meeting on today, the Elders past and present. We also acknowledge the Awabakal people to the east and the Darkinjung people to the south, and other Aboriginal peoples who now live within the Cessnock Local Government Area."
