Applications for 2012

Applications for the Mayoral Academic Scholarships for 2012 have closed.

The Scholarships are aimed at assisting students in reaching their potential and to make meeting the cost of education a little easier. They are open to students from Year 10 through to TAFE and University providing they are from the Cessnock Local Government Area.

Council has on offer 18 scholarships, each valued at $2,500 for one year. For further information on the scholarships please click on the individual scholarships listed below or contact Pauline Ross on 4993 4210.

• Ausgrid - Electrical Engineering Scholarship
  Available to a Post HSC or Undergradute student pursuing a career in Electrical Engineering at University.
• Austar Coal Mine - Environmental Studies Scholarship 
  Available to a Post HSC and University level student at either TAFE or University studying a Mine Rehabilitation and/or Climate Change discipline.
• Austar Coal Mine - Mining Technical/Engineering Scholarship
  Available to a Post HSC and University level student at either TAFE or University studying a mining related Technical/Engineering discipline.
• Cessnock Achievement Centre - Arts Scholarship
  Available to a student who is pursuing a diploma or degree course in the creative, performing or fine arts at TAFE/University.
  
• Cessnock Liquor Accord - Hospitality and Tourism Scholarship 
  Available to a student pursuing their first year of study at TAFE or University in this field.
• Donaldson Coal, Part of Gloucester Coal - Mining Scholarship 
  Available to a Pre or Post HSC student attending TAFE or University in a mine related trades/services/occupations discipline.
• Donaldson Coal, Part of Gloucester Coal - Medical and Health Scholarship 
  Available to a Post HSC student attending University or completing their degree in this field at University.
• East Cessnock Bowling Club - Information Technology Scholarship
  Available to a student Pre or Post HSC pursuing a career in the field of IT.  
• Hunter Resource Recovery - Post HSC Scholarship 
  Available to a student leaving high school and entering first year studies at either University or TAFE.
• Hunter Resource Recovery - University Scholarship 
  Available to a student who has completed first/second/third year University and is continuing their studies at University.
• John Knipe Memorial - Incentive Scholarship
  Available to a student at either University or TAFE who would not be able to continue further education without financial assistance.
• Kurri Kurri Retired Mineworker's Association - Local Government Scholarship 
  Available to a TAFE, Post HSC or Undergraduate student in a Local Government discipline in University.
• Kurri Used Building Supplies & Demolition - OH&S Scholarship
  Available to a Post HSC or University student pursuing a course in an Occupational Health and Safety discipline.
• Northnet Community College - Business Management Scholarship
  Available to a Post HSC, RTO, TAFE or University student pursuing a course in a Business Management discipline.
• Orica Mining Services - Mining Technology Scholarship 
  To assist a Post HSC student or Undergraduate student to pursue a career in a Mining Technology discipline at University or TAFE.
• Solo Resource Recovery - TAFE Scholarship 
  Available to a student who has completed first year at TAFE and is continuing into second year.  
• The Rotary Club Cessnock Inc. – Building and Associated Trades Scholarship 
  Available to a student Pre or Post HSC or an Undergraduate student in the field of building or associated trades attending either TAFE or University.
  
• Weston Aluminium Pty Ltd - Environment/Sustainability Scholarship 
  Available to a Post HSC student attending TAFE or University studying in an Environmental and/or Sustainable discipline.
