I am deeply honoured to be elected as Mayor of this great City. It is the beginning of a new era and a new Council and I am here today because I have a deep and unshakable belief in the future of our City. I believe our community is strong and vibrant and ready for the next era and the future growth of our City.
With your newly elected Councillors we will be a dynamic team and we are very aware of the serious responsibility which has been bestowed upon us and accept this responsibility willingly and look forward with a sense of excitement and optimism to work together in managing our magnificent City.
Our vision is simple: Our residents deserve to live in the best City inAustralia and we as your team will work with Council staff and the community to achieve this vision.
We strongly believe in creating employment for our residents whether they are young or not so young through continued development and the future economic growth of the City.
Through the continued Mayoral Academic Awards and Mayoral Academic Challenge we will assist our youth with their hopes and dreams to further support them in their education and one of my objectives is to re-commence the Youth Committee to enable our young people to have a voice in their City… this voice will one day be our future leaders.
We are indebted to the myriad community groups, organisations and people who constantly pour hard work and goodwill into our community to ensure our City grows and prospers.
My team and I look forward to serving and working with Council staff and our community to address the challenges that face our great City.
I would like to thank you for having the confidence in me and my team to lead our great City for the next four years.
To begin our new Council our first Council Meeting is to be held on Wednesday 8 October commencing at 6.30pm.
