• Draft Climate Change Policy to go on public exhibition
    In an effort to address the changing climate affecting the Cessnock Local Government Area, Council has developed a draft Climate Change Policy. The community are encouraged to provide feedback on the Policy during the public exhibition period. The draft Climate Change Policy will be on public exhibition from the 26 February until the 25 March 2020.

Councillor Anthony Burke


Ward D

Councillor Anthony Burke has lived in the local area for 31 years and was born in Kurri Kurri. Cr Burke and his family lived in the Abermain and Kurri Kurri areas until he married and moved to Cessnock.

Cr Burke is self employed and runs a business as a Celebrant and Master of Ceremony. He is also a passionate community member and joined Council to give back to the local community and to bring a fresh perspective and fresh ideas to council. He has spent many years volunteering to ensure opportunities are created for local people. Cr Burke was formerly the President of Kurri Rotary Club and is currently the President of the Hunter Charity Network. He is enthusiastic in creating more opportunities for the broader LGA and in particular the Kurri Kurri area.

Having a young family of his own, Cr Burke would like to see improvements in the parks and recreation areas within the LGA. He believes its important to provide a space for young families to live an active and healthy life, and ensuring these areas are accessible by all. He is also a strong believer of a high standard road network and cycle ways connecting the entire LGA.
