Councillor Allan Stapleford
Councillor Stapleford has lived in the Cessnock local government area for 62 years. He was born at Millfield and lived there as a youngster before moving into Cessnock with his family. He returned to Millfield 16 years ago.
Cr Stapleford spent many years working in the coal mining industry. He joined Council with the aim of giving something back to the community that has been so good to him and his family. The father-of-two enjoys beef and poultry farming on his small property.
He would like to see roadwork improvements on all Cessnock roads, especially Wollombi and Paynes Crossing. Cr Stapleford believes Catch-a-boy Lagoon should be turned into a wildlife park for the benefit of all Cessnock. He is also passionate about a new aquatic centre to support the growing population of Cessnock and believes Cessnock Sportsground needs better cricket facilities.
Cr Stapleford is a member of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Advisory Committee and the Hunter Local Land Services Advisory Committee.
