• Draft Climate Change Policy to go on public exhibition
    In an effort to address the changing climate affecting the Cessnock Local Government Area, Council has developed a draft Climate Change Policy. The community are encouraged to provide feedback on the Policy during the public exhibition period. The draft Climate Change Policy will be on public exhibition from the 26 February until the 25 March 2020.

Council’s Pledge to End Homelessness  

Council at its meeting on the 7 March 2018 showed its support for The Big Ideas Homelessness Network community campaign to end homelessness in the Hunter Region pledging:  

“Cessnock City Council pledges to do its part to end homelessness.  Council will build on its current actions to address homelessness, and support and promote the efforts of our community to end homelessness.  Council will advocate for change and enlist the support of colleagues, businesses, local agencies and the community to join this important effort, and let local leaders know that Council supports The Newcastle and Hunter Ending Homelessness Pledge”.  

Council is part of the local government founding signatories for the community campaign to end homelessness.
