Freeman of the City

The distinction, honorary Freeman of the City, is the highest acclamation a City can bestow upon one of its citizens.

The Freeman of the City Award recognises an individual for outstanding achievement over his or her lifetime which advances the values we share as Australians - like a fair go, democracy, diversity, participation and endeavour.

The Freeman of the City Awards

  • Develop an appreciation of the diversity and depth of personal and community achievement.
  • Promote and recognise community cohesiveness and concern for members of the community.
