Weekly e-News Monitor
The weekly e-news monitor is an initiative of the Economic Development Unit at Cessnock City Council designed to streamline all communications to businesses into one easy targeted weekly email. Each week three business related news items are included in the e-news monitor. News items will include business growth support, local news and changes to legislation or government information. Cessnock Economic Opportunities Program
The Cessnock Economic Opportunities Program facilitates mutually beneficial partnerships and collaborations between local businesses. The Program works by converting a commercial problem or need into a commercial opportunity – be it local procurement, a new premises, a service, a partner, or an expert opinion. Contact the Economic Development Unit on 02 4993 4257 to discuss your opportunity and to determine whether the Economic Opportunities Program is the right option for you. We will then investigate taking your opportunity to our business community, collate the responses, and forward interested parties’ information to you to investigate further.
A Voice for Business
The Economic Development Unit is actively involved in research and advocacy through making submissions for major capital projects and responding to government inquiry. Where possible, the Council will inform decision makers of issues affecting our region in order to provide better outcomes for residents and businesses. From time to time, the economic development unit may reach out to our business community requesting feedback or opinion on a topic or relating to a local issue. This information will be collated and utilised in order to attract invesment into our region, support funding applications or a regional submission to support better outcomes for Cessnock and its economy.

Economic Impact Modelling for Events
The Economic Development Unit have the capacity to run economic analysis on the economic impact of running an event. Economic modelling of events provides many benefits including:
- Event holders can measure their Return on Investment and in turn can assist in supporting continual improvement, increased awareness of market needs and supporting evidence to source external funding.
- Councils can utilise the information to make critical economic development decisions to support business growth and investment as well as the ability to seek external funding.
- Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Alliance and Chambers of Commerce can gain critical regional data to support applications for external funding for tourism and other projects.
