Business Retention and Expansion Project

Economic Development initiative to encourage business growth in the Cessnock CBD

Sustainable Cessnock a partnership with Cessnock City Council and Cessnock Wine Country Chamber of Commerce is initiating a project to examine current business needs, wants and opportunities.

The Cessnock CBD Business Retention and Expansion Project involves the surveying of local businesses to explore topics such as the area as a place to conduct business, transport and infrastructure, as well as information about the businesses themselves, their markets, staffing, plans for the future, business support services and finally business relationships with the Chamber itself.

By working alongside local business, Council and the Chamber of Commerce can ensure they foresee and mitigate any future challenges and take advantage of new opportunities.

This project will provide the Council and Cessnock Wine Country Chamber of Commerce with information about the local economy and provide a framework on which to develop solid strategies for growth. This is a great opportunity for local businesses to be directly involved in the development of the area and to help shape future business outcomes.

All local businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and contribute to the development of their local economy.

Council has supported the employment of a Town Coordinator for Sustainable Cessnock, Mr Ian Mackey.  Mr Mackey is experienced in conducting Business Retention and Expansion surveys and will assist to develop the project and attain the best possible results.
