Lost and Found Animals
The following animals have been found in the Cessnock Local Government Area. Owners should contact the RSPCA Rutherford on (02) 4939 1555 to arrange collection as soon as possible.
How long will my animal be held for?
Microchipped animals will be held for 25 days before ownership is transferred to the RSPCA whilst non microchipped animals are held for 9 days. After these periods animals may be put up for adoption by the RSPCA.
Will I need to pay a fee?
Yes. If your pet is impounded you will be required to pay a release fee. Council charges impound and sustenance fees to recover some of the costs associated with providing a pound service. The fee depends on the amount of time that your pet has been impounded for, so the sooner an animal is claimed, the less it costs. All fees must be paid prior to the release of the animal.
