Economic Development initiative to encourage business growth in the Cessnock CBD

Sustainable Cessnock  is a partnership between Cessnock City Council and Cessnock Chamber of Commerce. This strategic relationship is committed to achieve sustainable growth for Cessnock CBD, through projects which support local Small to Medium Enterprise. The Sustainable Cessnock Project has been auspiced and funded by Cessnock City Council. 

The Council see the value of a proactive and strategic approach to economic development committed to project outcomes in order to achieve our community's desired outcome of “A sustainable and prosperous economy”. To assist with the development of sustainable outcomes for the project, Council provides a Mainstreet Coordinator who successfully engages the community in the business and customer service sectors. Ian continues to assist in the development of the three year CBD Business and Marketing plan, making great progress in the City of Cessnock

Sustainable Cessnock provides the gateway by which Council and the Chamber of Commerce can work alongside local business and ensure appropriate decision making to take advantage of new opportunities and mitigate any risks. This project provides the Council and Cessnock Chamber of Commerce with information about our local economy and provides a framework on which to develop solid strategies for growth. This is a great opportunity for the local business community to be directly involved in the development of the area and to help shape future business outcomes. All local businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and contribute to the development of their local economy.
