The NSW Government is undergoing a major overhaul of the NSW Planning system. The Planning Reforms require a greater focus on Strategic Planning, comprehensive planning instruments, simplified planning controls and section 94 contributions.
All NSW councils are required to prepare a Comprehensive Local Environmental Plan (LEP) under the Standard Instrument (Local Environmental Plan) Order 2006.
Cessnock is required to substantially complete their comprehensive LEP within two years of gazettal of the Order (March 2008). Further information on the progress of Council’s Comprehensive LEP is available at LEP Exhibition Documents.
