Cessnock Mayor Alison Davey has heaped praise on those who participated in the jobs expo at Norsk Hydro yesterday, saying it was a very positive experience and demonstrated to the workers that they will be supported in their search for replacement jobs.
"Council supported Norsk Hydro management and the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations to bring the event together and it was absolutely outstanding to see so many employers participating with real jobs on offer," the Mayor said.
"Norsk Hydro has always been an excellent corporate citizen and Council has valued its contribution to our community over the years. Its commitment and approach to helping and supporting its employees in the face of adversity is to be commended."
